San Francisco — join the team

Head of Client Services

This is the person who builds the agency with us and defines the future of what advertising/marketing looks like. As Head of Client Services, you own our client relationships, our delivery, and our growth — with near-full autonomy and a short approval chain. You represent the business to clients and the leader the team rallies behind. We move fast and intensely. You move faster. You'll go shoulder-to-shoulder with marketing leaders, founders, and CEOs. You can conceive creative on the spot. You'll build the team and the systems that let us scale, and you'll drive our expansion beyond video into a full-force creative agency. You report straight to the CEO and sit on the leadership team.

  • Lead growth. Own how we win, serve, and grow clients, and push our expansion beyond video into a full creative offering.
  • Represent the business. Win the trust of founders, CEOs, and marketing leaders, and be the senior partner on the accounts that matter most.
  • Make great work happen. Conceive creative on the spot, demand sharp copy and standout advertising, push for high-craft video, and dream up the stunts that get everyone talking.
  • Build the team. Hire, mentor, and fire up a high-performing group — and shape the culture as we scale.
  • Run the engine. Put the processes and standards in place that let us grow fast without dropping the ball.
  • Guard the bar. Define what great looks like and hold it, so every single deliverable is unmistakably Story before it hits a client's inbox.
  • Own the hard moments. When a project, client, or deadline is on the line, you're the one who steps in — calm under fire, turning the save into a stronger relationship.
  • Own our presence. Bring a killer instinct for social media and modern marketing — for our clients and for Story itself.
  • A track record. You've done it before — built, led, and grown great creative and agency work. No minimum years; we care about what you've actually shipped.
  • Love of the craft — copywriting, advertising, high-craft video, and bold marketing stunts — and the taste to know when it's great.
  • On-the-spot creativity. You yourself are deeply creative and can conceive the idea in the room and rally a team around it.
  • Production chops. Marketing strategy paired with hands-on production experience (video strongly preferred).
  • A team builder's instinct. You've built and developed teams people want to be on.
  • Charisma and presence. You're the person clients want in the room and the leader people follow.
  • A love of the pace. You thrive in fast, intense, high-ownership environments.
  • Range. Fluent in social media and modern marketing, and able to make deep-tech subject matter clear and exciting.
  • Experience with deep-tech or technical founders.
  • Hands-on familiarity with the video production process, end to end.
  • A network in the startup, venture, or tech-marketing world.
  • Full-time, in-office. San Francisco, CA.

Senior Comms Strategist

We're hiring a Senior Comms Strategist to own narrative strategy across Story's brand and our clients' biggest moments. You'll set the strategic frame that our writers, editors, and client teams execute against — from a client's launch narrative to Story's own positioning in the deep tech and science world.

  • Set narrative and messaging strategy for major client accounts and high-priority launches.
  • Lead Story's own brand voice and communications strategy across channels.
  • Partner with the founder and Client Strategy team on positioning for the biggest opportunities.
  • Review and sharpen scripts, decks, and proposals before they reach clients.
  • Mentor and edit the work of the Comms & Strategy Writer and other junior writers.
  • Represent Story's point of view in high-stakes client conversations and pitches.
  • 5+ years in communications, brand strategy, content strategy, or a senior agency writing/strategy role.
  • A track record of shaping narrative strategy that moved a business outcome, not just words on a page.
  • Excellent writing and editing instincts — you make other people's work sharper.
  • Comfort operating at both the strategic level and the execution level.
  • Strong client-facing presence; you can hold the room in a high-stakes pitch.
  • Genuine interest in deep tech, science, and the founders building in that space.
  • Experience at a creative or brand agency working with technology or science clients.
  • Experience building comms strategy for a startup or founder-led brand.

Full-time. On-site, San Francisco.

Post Producer

We're hiring a Post Producer to run the pipeline that turns raw footage into finished, delivered work. You'll sit between editors, directors, and clients — scheduling cuts, managing revisions, tracking deliverables, and making sure nothing slips between assembly and final delivery.

  • Schedule and track every project moving through post, from assembly cut to final delivery.
  • Coordinate revision rounds between editors, directors, and clients — managing notes and timelines.
  • Own delivery specs and QC — making sure final files meet client and platform requirements.
  • Manage media, project files, and archiving across Frame.io and internal storage.
  • Flag bottlenecks and resourcing conflicts before they become deadline problems.
  • Interface directly with clients on scheduling and delivery, alongside producers.
  • Obsessively organized — nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
  • Calm under deadline pressure; can hold multiple projects at different stages at once.
  • Clear, proactive communicator with editors, directors, and clients.
  • Comfort with post-production tools and file management at scale (Frame.io, DaVinci Resolve, shared drives).
  • Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Prior experience in post-production coordination, production management, or a similar operational role.
  • Familiarity with editorial workflows, codecs, and delivery formats.
  • Based in the SF Bay Area or willing to relocate.
  • Health care & dental.
  • Beautiful San Francisco office with a view.
  • Free lunch.

Director of Photography / Producer

We're hiring a Director of Photography/Producer — a hybrid role for someone who can shoot beautifully and run a production. You'll be behind the camera on shoots across brand films, documentary-style pieces, and client work, while also owning the logistics that get a shoot there in the first place.

  • Shoot across a range of formats — docu-style interviews, brand spots, narrative pieces, event coverage.
  • Own visual style and lighting decisions on set, in collaboration with directors.
  • Produce shoots end-to-end: scheduling, crew booking, gear prep, locations, and logistics.
  • Manage on-set budgets and vendor relationships.
  • Interface directly with clients on set, representing Story's craft and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with editors and post team to make sure footage sets up the edit for success.
  • A strong eye — composition, lighting, and camera movement that elevate the story.
  • Production instincts: you can plan a shoot day that actually runs on time.
  • Calm, decisive leadership on set with crew and clients present.
  • Fast problem-solving when locations, weather, or schedules go sideways.
  • Collaborative mindset — you shoot for the edit, not just for the reel.

We believe in real people doing real work. We don't believe in AI replacing human creativity but are open to using it as a tool where it helps — pre-production planning, storyboarding, workflow support.

  • Strong reel demonstrating both cinematography and produced work.
  • Experience producing shoots — budgets, crew, logistics — not just operating camera.
  • Proficiency with professional cinema cameras and lighting packages.
  • Based in the SF Bay Area or willing to relocate.
  • Health care & dental.
  • Beautiful San Francisco office with a view.
  • Free lunch.

AI/VFX Generalist

AI is changing the VFX landscape fast. We're looking for someone who's already ahead of that curve — aware of the new tools and actively using them to do better work, faster. This role combines traditional VFX capabilities with emerging AI-driven production.

  • Composite and integrate VFX elements across a range of project types and styles.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate traditional VFX workflows — cleanup, generation, enhancement.
  • Generate full assets when needed using generative video and image tools.
  • Collaborate closely with directors, editors, and motion designers.
  • Stay current on emerging AI tools and bring informed recommendations to the team.
  • Manage your own files, organization, and delivery pipeline.
  • Deep understanding of traditional VFX and compositing.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-driven tools: Runway, Sora, Kling, ComfyUI.
  • Highly iterative mindset.
  • Fast turnarounds.
  • Genuinely curious about where AI and VFX are heading.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, no ego.

We move fast and we work hard. Projects are highly collaborative. We're a small team — your work actually matters.

We believe in real people doing real work, and that applies here too. The goal is always to serve the story, not simply show off the tool. AI as accelerant, not total replacement.

  • Strong portfolio with VFX and compositing work across multiple styles.
  • Proficiency in After Effects, Nuke, and/or Blender.
  • Hands-on experience with generative AI tools — Runway, Sora, ComfyUI.
  • Ability to complete a trial project.
  • Based in SF Bay Area or willing to relocate.
  • Degrees not required.
  • Health care & dental.
  • Beautiful San Francisco office with a view.

BTS Shooter / Editor Intern

We're looking for a BTS Shooter/Editor Intern to capture and cut behind-the-scenes content across Story's shoots, original series, and studio life. You'll be the person with a camera on set catching the moments that make it into our own social channels — then editing them fast, before the moment's gone.

  • Shoot behind-the-scenes footage on client shoots, original series productions, and around the studio.
  • Cut fast-turnaround BTS content for Story's social channels.
  • Keep up with a quick content cadence — shoot today, post soon after.
  • Organize and archive BTS footage for future use.
  • Work alongside editors, producers, and directors to learn the full production pipeline.
  • Bring your own creative eye to what's worth capturing.
  • A genuine passion for shooting and editing — this is a full hands-on role, not just observing.
  • Fast, scrappy editing instincts; comfortable with quick turnarounds over polish.
  • Self-motivated and reliable — you show up on set ready to work.
  • Open to feedback, eager to learn from a small team of working professionals.
  • Good communicator, comfortable being around clients and talent on set.

We believe in real people doing real work. We're open to using AI as a tool where it helps — workflow support, certain editing shortcuts — but this internship is about developing real shooting and editing chops.

  • A reel or social portfolio showing shooting and/or editing work, even informal.
  • Basic proficiency with a camera and an editing tool (Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut, etc.).
  • Based in the SF Bay Area or willing to relocate for the internship.
  • Prior professional experience and a college degree are not required — enthusiasm and a good eye go a long way.
  • Beautiful San Francisco office with a view.
  • Free lunch.
  • Hands-on mentorship across shooting, editing, and production.

Client Strategy & Sales Associate

We're hiring a Client Strategy & Sales Associate to own the front end of our client relationships and help convert inbound interest into contracted projects. You'll sit at the intersection of sales, client strategy, and creative development — running discovery calls, shaping video concepts and messaging, writing and pricing proposals, and coordinating with our filmmakers to bring the right creative vision to each pitch.

  • Run discovery and intro calls with inbound prospects to understand their goals, audience, budget, and the story they want to tell.
  • Develop custom proposals for prospective clients based on their needs.
  • Write, structure, and price video proposals, including scoping deliverables and defining options and packages that fit each client's budget.
  • Build and refine pitch and proposal decks in Google Slides, keeping them polished, on-brand, and tailored to each account.
  • Coordinate with filmmakers and the creative team to pressure-test whether concepts are feasible to produce.
  • Manage client communication end-to-end — timely follow-ups, scheduling, and keeping deals moving through the pipeline.
  • Track and organize the sales pipeline, surfacing status, next steps, and blockers in daily standups.
  • Partner with the sales lead and founder on strategy for high-priority accounts.
  • 1–4+ years in a client-facing role: sales, account management, business development, agency client services, strategy, or creative producing.
  • Strong writing skills — you can turn a messy call into a crisp proposal and a clear creative concept.
  • A creative instinct for storytelling and messaging.
  • Excellent communication and follow-through.
  • Comfort building clean, persuasive decks (Google Slides / Docs).
  • Ability to juggle many accounts at once.
  • Genuine interest in technology, startups, and film/video.
  • Experience at a creative agency, video/production studio, or in a startup go-to-market role.
  • Familiarity with deep tech and sales.

Full-time contractor (1099). On-site, San Francisco.

Comms & Strategy Writer

We're hiring a Comms & Strategy Writer to shape how Story sounds — for our clients and for ourselves. You'll write scripts, narratives, decks, social copy, and brand messaging that turn technical breakthroughs into stories people actually care about.

  • Write scripts, taglines, narrative frameworks, and messaging for client brand films and product videos.
  • Draft and edit proposal copy, pitch decks, and creative concepts alongside the Client Strategy team.
  • Own social copy and content for Story's own channels and original series (S3, Idea Factory, Masters of Movies).
  • Turn raw interview transcripts and footage notes into tight, story-driven narrative structures.
  • Partner with directors and producers to make sure every project has a clear point of view before cameras roll.
  • Maintain a consistent voice across every piece of writing that leaves the building.
  • 1–3+ years writing professionally — journalism, content marketing, agency copywriting, or comms.
  • Sharp, economical writing. You cut filler and find the sentence that actually does the work.
  • A story instinct — you can find the narrative inside a wall of technical jargon.
  • Comfort writing in someone else's voice without losing clarity.
  • Strong organizational habits; you can juggle multiple scripts and deadlines at once.
  • Genuine curiosity about deep tech, science, and the people building it.
  • Experience writing for video or documentary specifically.
  • Background at a creative agency, media company, or startup marketing team.

Fullstack Filmmaker

We need people who can move fluidly through every stage of production — concept, pre-production, on-set, and post — and do it at a high level. Some projects you'll own soup to nuts. • Produce projects logistically and creatively — budgets, schedules, talent, locations.
  • Direct and shoot (we work with Sony FX cameras; experience preferred).
  • Edit your own work and/or direct an editor.

  • You understand visual storytelling at a fundamental level.
  • You're fast.
  • You're comfortable in client-facing situations and can hold a room.
